Even if a city-bike is your preferred mode of two-wheeled transportation, your hands and wrists still deserve to be comfortable. That's why Ergon developed the GC1 Grips. The GC1 grip is specifically for bicycles with backwards-swept, moustache style handlebars, such as those found on city-bikes and beach cruisers. So, by using a flared end that slopes toward the center of the bars, Ergon designed the GC1 to position your hands to align with your forearms. This reduces aching and tension in the tendons of the wrist and elbow, allowing for hours of riding in comfort. Additionally, you'll also find a textured insert on the GC1 that prevents your hand from slipping. The GC1 was constructed from a German developed, certified toxin free, and UV stable rubber compound. I ordered these and instead got blackwall tires. They are Kenda Kwest. They're OK. Nothing special. They look durable. The sidewalls are thick and heavy.

They are certainly an improvement over knobby tires. There's no reason to use knobby tires unless you are on loose surfaces, such as mud, sand, or snow. Knobby tires make it much harder to ride. You don't need them on the road.
