Pyramid Bicycle Squeeze Horn, Bugle, Chrome Plated Review

I purchased this horn for my "tricked-out" beach cruiser. It does what a horn is supposed to do: you squeeze the bulb and it honks. Wah-hoo! It is plenty loud, and has that "olde tyme" sound that you might find from a car built in the early 1900's. The horn also looks great on my bike.

I dinged this product by one star because of the way the horn mounts are designed. During my first attempt at installation, I torqued the lone screw down until my eyes were bugging out, and still the mount gripped neither the handle bar nor the stem of the horn. It just flopped about and probably would have rattled about if I had been riding. To add somewhat to the frustration, the horn body allows for little forward and back adjustment and the screw head can only be accessed when the horn is situated just so. I should mention that the handle bars are what came with the bicycle, and appear to be "standard" diameter.

Fortunately, rubber tape is a stock item at home. One wrap around the handle bar, and a couple of wraps around the horn body did the trick. More or less. The horn is still not as tight as I want it to be, so I will probably add another layer or two of rubber tape where the clamp grips the horn. Three layers of rubber tape; the mount they sent me was not even close to the right size for holding the horn in place.

They lose another star because of the bulb. As several other reviewers have noted, the bulb comes off easily, or at least it does on mine. The only thing holding the bulb to the body is friction; no adhesives, no set screws, no threaded fit, and not nearly enough friction! I don't believe that it will take many miles of riding before the bulb works its way off, rendering the product worthless. I plan to glue / screw the bulb on to the body, something which the manufacturer should have done.

I used this to build a water filer kit by adding an in-line filter in the feeder hose.

The pump does move water, but not at a very high rate. It took me 10 minutes of pumping to fill my 70L Camelbak. The filter didn't seem to hamper the flow of water very much, the pump is just slow.

That being said I like being able to fill the bladder without having to remove it from my pack. So while it's not as quick as I would have liked, it still does the job.

Michelin Pro Optimum Front Tire (Black, 700c x 25-mm) Review

I blew through my first set of stock Giant tires, the rear tire started flattening out after about 1000 miles. I'm a 'Clydesdale' rider, 250+lbs, and have to run my tires at max pressure. That means 1) I feel every single bump in the road, 2) things get scary/skittish going downhill on rough pavement, 3) and tires wear out faster. After researching extensively online I decided I needed 25c tires. I ended up with these as Michelin rates them as their most durable/long lasting tread. Hoping for some decent flat protection. Several people I ride with swear by Michelins in general, so I bought these. So far, about 200 miles in, I'm completely happy. They certainly roll easier than my last set of 23c tires, much smoother, and much better traction. I feel much more in control at 25+MPH going downhill. I bought the front tire here, couldn't find the rear on Prime, so bought the rear at my LBS. Can't comment on durability, but assuming they hold up I'll buy another set when they wear out.
