Columba 26" Folding Bike w. Shimano 18 Speed Blue (SP26S_BLU) Review

I was shopping around for a folding bike since I drive a sports compact car -- Mounting a rack was completely out of the question. One of my criterias was to get a 26" folder, not a 20" or a 16"... those just look awkward. After numerous days of searching and following tens of hundred of links to various "review" sites, everthing pointed back to this Columba 26" folding bike.

At first I couldn't decide if I wanted the RJ26 model (with suspension), or this SP26 model (without suspension). I went to a local bike shop and hopped onto a few MT bikes with suspension and i disliked it alot. It sank, and ate up pedal power because the bike slightly bounces with each step. Since my goal was to bike casually around the city, I quickly settled on a SILVER SP26S.

When I purchased this, it was priced at $185... which was a STEAL. I was hesistant thinking why would this bike be so "inexpensive". Along the same line of thinking, I thought this bike would be of terrible quality. However, desperate for a 26" folding bike, I purchased this SP26S thinking "if the bike was total crap, it's ONLY $185... not a big loss".

I received my bike approximately 2-3 weeks ago, and the package came as described. The installation "paper" is a bit light on directions, so you'll have to stare at the parts a bit. It took me about 30 mins to put the bike together, but I took it to a local bike shop to get it professionally tuned. Surprisingly the tuning cost me ZERO!

With the bike fully assembled, and I have spent under $200 in total, I took it on a test ride around town. I'll tell you... this bike is built like a champ. It's solid. It does not feel like a folder. There are no weird noises. Everything feels solid. I am very surprised!!!

To date, I have ridden this bike about 7-8 days, one to two hours per day. I have folded this bike about 5 times and easily stuffed it into my trunk. So far, the bike still feels new like the first day it was tuned up.

PRO:
- One of best looking 26" folding bike
- Amazing quality, feels extremely sturdy
- 26" tires
- Takes about 10-15 seconds to completely fold away, once you know what to do
- Easily fits in a BMW, Honda, and Mercedes trunk
- Solid gear shifting... ZERO problems, no weird clicking noises.
- Cheaply priced at $185 - $220... I would personally pay a couple hundred more for this bike. I bought this for $185. I would pay up to $400. I noticed 2KSilver started raising the prices on this bike. It's gone up from $185 to about $220 already in a short amount of time. If you are considering purchase, I would purchase earlier rather than later. It seems they have figured out how cheaply the bike is priced, and they are now raising the price.

CON:
- It's approximately 35 lbs. I get a sweaty workout biking around town (if I bike hard). This bike is too heavy for my girl to carry. However, even many "thousand dollar mt bikes" weigh in at 27-30 lbs.
- The tacky "COLUMBA" paint on the frame... in my opinion, they could've toned it down a bit.
- Installation instructions are sparse... I suggest taking the bike to a professional, unless you are knowledgable

FINAL:
- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
- Don't be surprised by the price tag. It really is a steal. I was skeptical at first, but it's a great purchase.
- Don't be put off by the "lack of suspension" either. The bike is on the heavier side... I suspect a suspension bike will rob precious pedal power. After all, this bike without suspension already gives a heafty workout while riding around.
