I'm pretty new to clipless pedals so I wanted to make sure I installed the cleats correctly. After setting things up I can see this tool is not necessary but it does save some time and the manual has some good info about cycling biomechanics. With the TP1 Initial placement of the cleat is less of a guess and installing the second cleat symmetrically to the first is a breeze. More guess work will be removed when it comes time to replace cleats too. I'm using a Shimano road SPD shoe and found the shoe curves upward enough that the cleat is not in the template up front; it still works but you need to take extra care when tightening things up. My MTN bike shoes do not do this. Quality of the unit is great, the marker stickers are reusable (with care taken) and the manual is an easy read.
