Hutchinson Intensive Long Distance Clincher Tire (Black, 700 x 25c) Review

I've logged over 14,000 miles using Hutchinson Intensives on three different bikes. I'm 150lbs and inflate the tires to 100psi; 700x23 on front and back. The rear tire generally lasts about 2,000 miles; the front considerably longer. The only issue I had was the first set deteriorating from the chemicals used on the roads in the winter. Once I started to wipe the tires down with a wet towel after my winter rides, that problem was resolved. The replacement set lasted 2,000 miles as expected. I haven't had a single flat with these tires. Most of the riding has been in the Colorado Springs area, although they also survived three trips to Tucson, AZ, with no flats (roughly 300 miles ridden per trip). I don't bother avoiding debris on the road and I even go off-road at times. The gravel and glass on some of my rides can get pretty bad, but still haven't flatted on these tires.

These are comparable to Continental 4 Seasons at roughly half the price, about as light a tire as you're going to find with a Kevlar belt. I have no complaints about the ride quality or handling, even with some pretty aggressive descents on the back side of the front range. If you're going to run clinchers in a race, I would recommend these over some super-light, fancy race tires... you can't win if you flat!

I suspect James Battle (1-star review: "didn't stay on the rim, February 1, 2013") got a pinch flat from not mounting the tire correctly. I haven't had any issues with the Hutchinson's popping off the rim.
