Quick Version:My summary of that tape would be that it is "just bar tape". Stretch, cushion, texture are all middle of the road. I don't necessarily mean that as a criticism, sometimes on these simple items that's a complement; nobody needs to invent a better toothpick. I've used tapes that tried to be innovative in some characteristic and they fail miserably and you end up wishing you just got some generic tape. The RavX goes on and feels like most other synthetic tapes I've used. The one quality making it stick out from the crowd is the cosmetics, and the colored fenestrations (thanks word of the day calendar) look great - subtle, but noticable.
Long Version:
I picked these up because I wanted some red accent on my tape. I usually use Fizik tape, which is great, but I wasn't willing to try their dual tape with the red stitching because it looked too thick.
I'm no pro at bar wrapping but I've done it a good half dozen times now. The RavX tape went on reasonably easy. Not the stretchiest (sp?) tape I've ever put on, but far from stiff. It went around the drops ok, sometimes I'd have to back it out and re-stretch to get it to lie flat. The adhesive on the back is ok, probably helps a bit, but if you have to back it off and reapply it doesn't stick much.
Good middle-of-the-road feel too - decent cushion and synthetic feel to the grip. My one gripe would be that there isn't a taper on one side like the Fizik tape that allows you to overwrap without creating a lot of undulations in the wrap. That said, I can't feel it with gloves on.
They don't provide extra pieces for under your hoods. There's a couple inches without the colored holes on each roll, which I would assume is for use on the hoods? I just left my strips on from my last wrap, which was also black. On the first side I left the blank section on and I had plenty left over to cut a smooth transition in at the top. On the second side I cut off the blank section and I barely made it to the top; I wasn't able to cut in an angled transition. I did make it, but if you don't need the little strip for under the hoods, I'd leave it on to assure you make it.
