I had several flats due to punctures before buying these. Once due to a wire, another time due to a thorn. Both punctures were a pain to deal with but fortunately I was close to home or the leak was slow enough to get home. That was my motivation for buying these - not wanting to get stuck and hoping these tires would prevent that.
I can't say that I have had a puncture - although it's possible and it sealed itself. At any rate, what is amazing about these tubes is that I filled them up and rode on them for almost 4 months before having to add air. They hold pressure very well. So if you are looking for some peace of mind, and a tire that holds pressure forever as a bonus, these are worth the money.
