Product Description

Polar Bottle is the original insulated plastic sport bottle and has been keeping liquids colder, longer, since 1994. The bottle has evolved in the years since with brightly colored foil liners and patterns and an innovative removable valve system. Made in America, Polar Bottle is popular throughout the world. Combining the thermal properties of an insulated vacuum bottle with the lightweight, flexible features of a plastic bottle, Polar Bottle's insulated water bottle is the ideal choice for active people. Simply fill with liquid and ice and hit the trail. For even longer cooling power, fill your insulated bottle and store it in the freezer before use. Either way, it will keep liquids cold twice as long as conventional water bottles. Insulated Technology: The double-wall construction of our insulated water bottles creates a thermal barrier of air to keep heat out and cold in. Foil layers reflect solar rays for additional thermal protection. BPA-Free & Phthalate-Free: Polar Bottle has never used BPA in any water bottles. Even the first Polar Bottles in 1994 were BPA-free. Polar Bottle has created a variety of custom bottles designed specifically for this year's race. The designs are inspired by each of the five Leader's Jerseys - General Classification (overall leader), Best Young Rider, Best Sprinter, King of the Mountains, and Most Aggressive Rider - and a commemorative 2012 Stage Route bottle has also been created.

Polar Insulated Water Bottle (24-Ounce, USA Pro Cycling Challenge Red Dot King of the Mountain Jersey) Review

Pros:

-Polar bottles really do work, they keep water cool for a longer period. Especially useful when riding in 100 degree heat.

-The fit/finish of the bottles is pretty solid for a plastic bottle.

-this particular one is cool as it was designed around the USA pro challenge.

-These nicer bottles have the more typical "pop top" rather than the "twist top" that some of the polar bottles have, and I prefer these for riding.

-The black insert (mouthpiece basically) is removable and stays clean well.

-The capacity is just about right, meaning it fits bottle holders and bike frames.

-These don't taste like plastic, even after being in a hot car for hours.

Cons:

-The fit/finish doesn't compare to Sigg bottles, the top lip on one is deformed and it leaks occasionally.

-The mouthpiece isn't consistent from one to the other. I have 2 of these, and one is significantly harder to push/pull.

-While the mouthpiece is removable, it is quite a struggle at first.

-These bottles are quite long, and thus are a bit difficult to work in and out of a cage on a smaller bike frame (48cm)

-There were no directions for care included with the bottle, but I hand-wash then air dry overnight before storing.

Overall: I really enjoy the bottles, but I do hope that Polar tackles the consistency issues. In the future I'll probably end up buying a couple more, but will be buying them in-store to ensure that I get one that opens and closes easily.

Also, they do exactly what they say they will do by keeping the water cool. I usually fill them completely with ice then add cold water. I can usually get a bit over an hour worth of cold water in 100 degree weather
