The product is exactly as expected, and the same-brand pair I had before these lasted for several years of heavy use. The grips fit very, very tightly around the handlebars ... as they should. I spent over half an hour wrestling them on, in spite of using a small amount of lubricant (not much, since I didn't want them to slip afterwards) and ended up with quite a few blisters on my hands. Afterwards, a colleague laughed at me and said that you are supposed to use a generous amount of adhesive, and then they slide on easily; and after the adhesive dries, they hold rock-solid. So, Cannondale, I am taking a star off the review because you did not provide instructions for those of use who are not bike-fix pros.

As a shorty, these guards are actually the perfect length for me without the knee portion being too bulky. I've only had one mild crash with them, and they held up wonderfully. That said, you can't just strap them on and remove them at will because of the slip on design. I've had other guards with straps that didn't chaff and stayed in place during hard crashes, hence I took away one star.

I installed these on my touring bike. The setup is very simple and instructions are included. Make sure to measure the diameter of your handlebars at the point you want to mount BEFORE you order. Also, double check the length of the cable before you cut. You will get the best results from a dedicated cable cutting tool, although this is not strictly necessary. Use a quick motion to avoid crushing the housing. If you are unfamiliar with bike mechanics it might take you about forty five minutes to complete the job, less time if you're experienced.

On my setup with cantilever brakes and tiagra shifters the brakes provided a good amount of travel, and did not interfere with normal braking. It's very nice to have the option of riding on the top of the bars, especially in city riding.

Avenir Deluxe Unicycle (16-Inch Wheel) Review

We purchased this unicycle as a gift for our nine-year-old son. Assembly time is minimal given that there are so few parts. In order to get the seat down to the right height for our son (small for a nine-year-old) we needed to shorten the verticle bar that holds up the seat so it wouldn't hit the tire. That was a short matter with a hacksaw.

No one in my household had ever ridden a unicycle so it was all new to us. Our son loves the unicycle and taught himself to ride it in our kitchen holding onto the counters. One of the main reasons we bought the unicycle was to give him some indoor exercise and it's worked out well for that. Mind you we don't have floors worthy of protecting. He's now riding it outside on pavement and on grass.

A couple things of note: The only short-coming in terms of the cycle's construction is that the seat occasionally gets twisted and needs to be adjusted.

Also, we purchased a unicycle stand separately which was unnecessary because this comes with a small stand.

The base of the product is sturdy and the noise level is comparable to other magnetic trainers that I have used.

Bell Vela Bike Helmet, Ice Blue/Blue Flowers Review

This helmet is comfortable, although the way some of the newer helmet straps twist a bit, including this one, is disappointing. Still, the straps lie fat against the face so that it doesn't hurt or feel uncomfortable as my previous helmet did. The straps do twist a bit behind the ears, but once the helmet is on and I can't see them in a mirror, they don't bother me; they just look stupid.

The dial in the back allows a snug fit of the helmet.

Although this is a "universal women's" helmet for smaller heads, at the smallest-size adjustment of the chin straps it is just the right size for me. Anyone with a truly samll head would need something smaller than this, perhaps even the child's version. My head isn't that small! It's just that the chin straps' setting on this is not really for a small head.

The chin strap clasp is a bit difficult to close.

The color is a pretty teal - not truly an "ice" blue, including the straps and the visor. I like that the staps are colored to match the helmet - not black straps.

I've only worn this a few times since recently purchasing it, but so far I like it. I'd give it a 5 except for the straps twisting behind the ears. Once the helmet is on my head I don't really think about it, so it is comfortable.

Wellgo LU-961 Road Pedals Silver with Clips & Straps Review

I'm finally moving up to cleats and cycling shoes, but these pedals have served me extremely well and I'm almost sad to retire them. Good adjustment to get the right fit, wearing trainers is no problem. I actually removed the metal plate that goes around the toe length adjustment screws, and just screwed the screws straight down on to the nylon. I found the pedals more suitable with the flatter surface for you foot with the plate removed, and never had any problems with slipping.
