The inside harness of this helmet is only attached to the foam helmet with sticky-backed velcro. In the summer heat in our garage (PA) the sticky stuff melted and the harness completely fell out of the helmet. There is no way this thing will protect your child's head. Since we are horse owners, we are going to use our son's riding helmet for biking as that one is made solid and the harness covers the entire head and is permanently attached to the helmet.
