Bicycle Maintenance Repair & Storage Stand Review
I ordered this product with low hopes, figuring that a $30 repair stand would be worth just that. My work place has a "professional" Park repair stand, so I know what the top maker can produce. After having received and assembled my stand, I'm very proud of my choice of this product.First, delivery was prompt, which isn't always the case. Secondly, the stand required minimal assembly. All hardware was included in the package along with the 2 Allen wrenches needed to build the stand. Assembly took all of 10 minutes, with build instructions and a detailed parts list included. Third, the stand is made of decent metal tubing (I would have liked an even heavier gauge metal), with a nice black coating, and the clamp surfaces have a good heavy rubber pillow. The front wheel brackets are independent moving so you can block all movement of the front wheel or just restrict movement to one side. The down tube bracket is large enough at accommodate the vast majority of bikes without hassle and the lower bracket is adjustable, so the bike can be clamped down without having to remove the kickstand. Fourth, the stand comes with "feet" already installed on the legs, and a small parts/tool tray included.
Now it's not perfect, in that when raised to maximum height, it's slightly wobbly. I fixed this by adding some weights to the legs, increasing it's stability greatly and allowing the ability to apply serious torque if need be. The is also the lack of ability to pivot vertically, but for $30 you're not gonna get everything.
To close this is an outstanding piece of home equipment, (not meant or intended for "pro" use), that assembles in minutes, and provides awesome value for the (VERY) low price. I would recommend this stand for any cyclist who needs to do maintenance but doesn't want to spend $200+ for a big name repair stand.
Edit; Since writing my review, I used the stand with my MTB, and the down tube on it was too large for the clamp. I still believe this stand is well woth the money plus some.
