I don't know what the pressure you needed to get your tires to, but I blew a tire just yesterday on a century ride and pumped it right back up with no problems.

Make SURE you fold down the handle or you will be doing a lot of pumping, but almost no filling once you get past 60 psi. I was stuck at 60 for a while until I realized that the pump didn't work too well with half pumps. Once I pulled down the handle I got it up to 90 psi with no problems!
