Lezyne Essential Patch Kit in Low-Profile Plastic Pouch Review

I have been using these great little tube patches for some time now. Just recently fixed two back to back flats on my road bike during my last century. First my front tire ran over a small thorn, then my rear tire over a small shard of glass. Both times I was able to locate the culprit (thorn/glass still lodged in the tire).

The trick is to catch the flats early so at to not damage to tube by riding on it (pinching it unusable).
These patches have no goo to apply and no wait time for drying. They truly are great! The kit even comes with a tire patch which I used on the inside of my rear tire after running over the glass (it put a small tear in the tire).

Here's my trick to a successful flat fix.
When initially installing the tube in to the tire, line the valve stem up with the lettering or an identifiable logo on the tire. This trick serves as two functions for me.

1) When airing up, you always know where the valve stem is immediately without spinning the tire and looking for it.
2) When getting a flat via thorn/glass etc... remove the tube from the tire and run your thumb along the inside of the tire. Usually the puncturing culprit is still lodged inside the tire and you can feel it with your thumb. After locating the thorn/glass in your tire, line up the tube in conjunction to where the valve stem met the logo on the tire. Now you can see almost the exact spot where the puncture is on the tube.
Use the supplied sanding disc to clean up the area around the puncture on the tube, be sure the tube is totally deflated and then apply the patch (this is important). Applying the patch to the tube when it is even a tiny bit inflated will cause shrinkage in the patch when you let the air out of the tube. This causes wrinkles in the patch and it will leak (ask me how I know).

I carry C02 cartridges which are good for 1 tire fill each, I also don't have the luxury of having a bucket of water to locate holes while on the road (you probably don't either). So use this valve stem/tire logo trick to help finding those pesky tiny punctures.

I have three of these patches on my bikes tubes at this very moment. Two in the rear tube (different locations) and one in the front tube. Oh and I also have that one tire patch on the rear tire. I have logged over 1,000 on these tubes and the patches still hold up fine at 105psi.

That's my story and I should probably be working instead of writing reviews on Amazon. lol
